Christa was born in Germany to Karl and Louise Thomashoff on February
27,1934. She studied chemistry and worked as a chemist before moving to the
United States. She emigrated to New Jersey in 1967, residing first in New
Providence before settling in Berkeley Heights. After raising her two daughters,
Christa worked as the manager of the china department at the renowned
Bloomingdales. She loved china and enjoyed frequently changing all the displays.
Christa was a creative soul and enjoyed a variety of crafts. She could often be
found designing and sewing beautiful heartfelt quilts which frequently turned into
cherished gifts for friends or loved ones. She also loved to create cards for all
occasions. If she wasn’t crafting you could find her puzzling, doing Suduko or
reading a book.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She loved watching her
grandchildren grow and was excited to experience many of their milestones. She
was everyone’s Oma.
Christa is survived by her daughter Connie Pinkowski and ex-husband Gary;
daughter Monika Gannon and her husband Tom. She also leaves behind her
granddaughters Courtney, Ashley, and Kaitlyn; her grandsons Ryan and David and
their wives Tatiana and Olivia; and her great granddaughters Mila, Noa and Mae.
