James was born his parents, William B. Hughes and Edith Henderson on January 13, 1949, in Orange, New Jersey and was raised in Greenbrook, New Jersey. James graduated from Dunellen High School and attended St. Francis College in Pennsylvania. He then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army in Korea. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, James worked at AT&T. He then went to work for National Pipe Hanger Corporation for almost 40 years before retiring.
James, known to most as Fuzzie was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. His knowledge and commitment to reality television was unmatched.
James is survived by Mary Hughes (nee McCabe), his beloved wife of 50 years, his loving children; James Hughes and his wife Kimberly and Meghan Gates and her husband Patrick, his cherished grandchildren; Lilly, James, Arlo and Silas. James is also survived by his siblings; brothers, William (Patty), Tommy (Maureen) and Danny (Christine) and his sister, Mary Tommaro (Tommy).
In lieu of flowers, donations in James's name may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
