Jocelyne M Thompson

Jocelyne (Jo) was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who lived a long and happy life and passed away peacefully after a brief illness.

Jo was born in Canada on October 14, 1939 to Arthur and Bertha Bourgeault. When she was 10 years old her family moved to Montclair, NJ. After graduating from high school she married the love of her life, Bob, who retired as a Sergeant with the Montclair Police Department. They were married for 64 years before his passing three years ago. Together they raised three incredible children while continuing to reside in Montclair.

With her kids all grown, they relocated to Manahawkin where prior to her retirement she worked as an executive assistant at Community Medical Center in Toms River.

Her family was her life. She was the most happy when she was spending time with Bob, her children and her grandsons, who she was extremely proud of. Being involved in her children's sporting events, riding on the back of Bob's motorcycle, winters in Florida, family gatherings and vacations or just being together was what made her life so meaningful.

Along with spending time with family and her dear friends, or reading a good book, Jo was an avid gardener and called it her "happy place." In the winter months she and Bob could be found at the beach or poolside at their place in Florida. Over 40 years of going there, they made the best lifelong friends and memories.

Jo will be sorely missed and is survived by her daughter Dale Anne and son-in-law William Dalton, daughter Diane Petrozzino, grandsons Robert A Thompson lll, Richard A. Thompson, Robert (RJ) Petrozzino and nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert A. Thompson Sr, son Robert A. Thompson Jr, son-in-law Robert D. Petrozzino and her siblings.

A Memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 from 7:00pm-9:00pm at Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahakwin, NJ. A Memorial will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at 11:30
