John "Perk" "Stan" Perkins passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026 in Manahawkin, New Jersey. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Sandra Perkins. John has three surviving sons, John Perkins Jr., Jeff Perkins (Heidi Hubert), and Brett Perkins (Susanne Perkins). He has survivng grandchildren Scott Perkins, Michael Perkins (Dr. Annie Apple), Ryan Perkins, Billy Huff (Katherine Huff), Laurel Perkins, Madelyn Perkins, and Courtney Perkins. He is predeceased by his grandson Christian Perkins.
Perk and Sandy married in 1958, shortly before his induction into the Army and subsequently being stationed in Germany in 1960. Their first son was born in Germany while they lived in a converted chicken coop in Erlangen. Upon returning to the United States, Perk and Sandy bought a house in Springfield, PA, where they raised their three sons and enjoyed a lifetime of fond memories. Their sons had the unique experience of having all four grandparents alive to celebrate many years of holidays together.
Perk followed his father to work in sales for heavy construction equipment for most of his career. Later in life, he developed a passion for photography, which included construction of a dark room in their home. Many Springfield athletes, and many athletes' parents, benefited from his dedication to capturing sporting events and sharing those photographs. For many years he contributed photographs to the Springfield Press and the high school yearbook.
Perk spent many summers at Long Beach Island with his family. He enjoyed watching his sons, and later grandchildren, grow and have many fun times at the beach. During his later years, he became known as "Gator John" by safely transporting seniors and disabled residents from their homes to the beach on a Gator vehicle.
Perk retained many friendships with special people in his life from Upper Darby High School, from work experiences, from photography, and from his communities in Springfield and on Long Beach Island. He spoke frequently, and fondly, of those friendships to his family.
Following cremation services, Perk's family with hold a private celebration of his life. We thank all of those that have reached out with condolences and a special memory. We are truly grateful.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers that any donations in his memory be made to the Ronald McDonald House, to help families when they may need it most.
