Karen grew up in the Philadelphia area and traveled extensively in her younger years. She began her career as a teacher in Greenville, North Carolina. In the summer of 1968, she met the love of her life, Steven Schultz, while he was bartending at the Surf City Hotel on Long Beach Island. They married and shared 54 wonderful years together before his passing.
While raising her family, Karen worked as a realtor in Medford and on Long Beach Island, eventually making Barnegat Light her family’s permanent home.
Karen had a passion for many things in life. She loved gardening and was known for having the nicest garden on the block. She was an amazing cook who cherished gathering her loved ones around the dinner table. She was also a talented seamstress and an avid reader who always enjoyed diving into a good book.
An animal lover throughout her life, Karen never turned away a stray that found its way to her door. Her kindness, generosity, warmth, and love for those around her will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
A celebration of Karen’s life will be held at a later date.
