Mark is survived by his second wife of 25 years, Judy (Himmelberger). They dated as teenagers in the late 1960s and reconnected as adults. He is survived by his children; son, Matthew (and his wife Allison), his daughter, Hailey, his grandchildren, Patrick and Charlotte, and his sister, Susan. He is predeceased by his father, Herbert and mother, Selma.
Mark worked in real estate along side his father for many years building homes primarily on the south side of Long Beach Island. In his youth, Mark was a skilled singles tennis player, and he captained his high school team, also playing in college. Mark was well liked by his peers in high school and elected student council president at Southern Regional. Mark was a photography enthusiast; he enjoyed fishing and loved dogs — not least the five family Labrador retrievers of his childhood. Mark was an enthusiastic gardener, often sharing his abundant tomatoes and squash with friends all over LBI. Mark found fellowship and friendship in AA as a proudly dedicated member of the community, he attended weekly over the past 23 years. He was known for his enduring commitment and truly valued the opportunity to provide support to anyone in need.
Mark will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was a gentle, kind and humble man with a generous heart. A remembrance and thanksgiving for Mark’s life is being planned privately, by his family.
Visitation will be held at the Jewish Community Center, 2411 Long Beach Blvd, Long Beach, NJ 08008, US, on October 4, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
