Philip Guglielmo

Philip is survived by the love of his life, Elmira, his wife of 63 years, his loving children; Tracie Francisconi (Tony), Billy Guglielmo (Donna), Jill Mercy (John), Kimmy Velez and Tammy Leap (Frank), his cherished grandchildren; Derek, Travis, Zack, Dominic, Anthony, Willie, Joey, Macy, Samantha, David, Danielle, Jessica, Brandon, Emma, Trevor, Sammy, Rebecca, Philip, Lexi and Jake as well as his precious great-grandchildren; Landon, Ava, Everly, Blaise, Leo, Aisley, Easton, Aiden, Mary, Sara, Emily, Nicholas, Brielle, Juliana, Clara Jo, Mac, Ariah, Angelina, Victoria, Ollie, Jackson, Logan, Eliza, Vinnie and Mia. Philip is also survived by his sister Patricia Casterline, his niece Dawn, nephew Danny and his many cousins.

Philip was predeceased by his parents, Sunshine and Cena Guglielmo and his three grandsons.

Philip was a Super market legend known as “Mr. G”. He dedicated over 50 years to the supermarket business. He started as a stock clerk for Mayfair Foodtown and worked his way up to district manager. He then worked for many years as a store manager for Saker Shoprite and trained many of the night store managers.

He played baseball for Plainfield High School, from where he graduated. He served as an altar boy for many years at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.

Philp and Elmira were childhood friends, with that friendship eventually turning into true love. The legacy he leaves behind is evidence of the cherished love they had for each other. Above everything else in his life, the love he had for his family was beyond measure. He was a devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather and uncle.

Phil loved to talk, he especially enjoyed talking about politics, and about boxing great Manny Pacquiao. He was an avid Yankee fan, Mickey Mantle was his favorite player, so much so that he named his beloved Bichon dog Mickey after him. He loved planting vegetables in his garden, bowling, and playing golf. His passion was music ranging from the 50’s, to The Eagles to Kenny Chesney and so much more. It was a lifelong passion and he passed it on to all those around him. In his later years, he enjoyed nothing more than sitting in his recliner and playing games on his phone. His family will always remember his love of Wise potato chips and peanut M&M’s.

A visitation will be held Monday, August 24, 2026, from 3:00pm-7:00pm at Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00am at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church, 100 Bishop Lane, Manahawkin, with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Manahawkin.
