Austin Leonard Healey Jr.

Born on November 8, 1945, in Manchester, New Hampshire, Austie was raised in the city he proudly called home. He graduated from Manchester West High School, where he met the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Anne M. Healey (Schlender). They shared 55 years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, devotion, and unwavering commitment. Following Anne's passing in May 2023, Austie continued to cherish her memory every day.

Austie proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. The courage, loyalty, and perseverance he developed through his military service became defining qualities that guided him throughout his life.

After returning home, Austie dedicated more than 30 years to Manchester Water Works, where he retired as a foreman. He later spent several years with Parks Construction before fully embracing retirement.

A proud, hardworking, and stubborn Irishman, Austie was known for his quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and ability to make everyone around him laugh. He appreciated life's simple pleasures—a cold beer, a home-cooked meal, singing, golfing, watching a good game, and, most importantly, spending time with the people he loved. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he was an especially devoted Boston Celtics fan.

For more than 14 years, Austie found great joy in coaching youth softball at West Jr. Deb. He loved sharing his passion for the game while teaching young athletes the values of teamwork, determination, sportsmanship, and perseverance.

Family was the center of Austie's world. He treasured every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. He took immense pride in celebrating the accomplishments of those he loved, whether attending school events, cheering from the sidelines at sporting events, supporting careers, or hearing about new adventures through travel. His sisters-in-law held a special place in his heart, and he cherished the close bond they shared. Nothing brought him greater happiness than seeing the people he loved thrive.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, Austie was admired for his kindness, resilience, strength, compassion, and unwavering ability to listen. He faced every challenge with optimism, grace, and determination, inspiring everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Austie was the son of the late Austin L. Healey Sr. and Mary (Healy) Healey. He is survived by his children, Tracey Healey, Michael Healey, and Kelley Blake and her husband, John Blake; his cherished grandchildren, Austyn Healey, Michael Healey, Connor Healey, Gabe Hayward, Colin Blake, and Riley Blake; his sisters-in-law, Jane Kennedy (Schlender) and Veronica Schlender (Buckley); as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Anne, he was predeceased by his sister, Frances Richard; his brothers-in-law, Michael Kennedy, Walter Schlender, Carl Schlender, Donald Richard; and his beloved grandson, Chance Healey.

Although our world will be quieter without the sound of Austie's laughter and singing, his legacy of service, love, generosity, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, proud Marine, loving father and grandfather, dedicated family man, loyal friend, and a man whose humor, strength, and generous spirit touched countless lives.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Raphael Parish, 103 Walker St, Manchester, NH 03102, on August 12, 2026, starting at 10:00 AM followed by a Graveside Committal at New St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, NH 03110.
