

Arthur F. Cassidy Jr. 81, of Swampscott, previously of Medford Lakes and Ocean City NJ passed away on December 2nd after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Carol Miller Cassidy and his parents Arthur F Cassidy, and Isabelle Crawford Cassidy. Arthur leaves behind two daughters Kelly Cassidy Upham and her husband Michael, and Jill Hartmann and her husband Michael, both of Swampscott. He is also survived by his two loving granddaughters Meghan and Allyson.
Arthur was born and raised in West Roxbury and graduated from Boston English High School. He proudly served in the United States Army as a sergeant, and attended U Mass Amherst on the GI bill. After graduation Arthur worked for GE in Boston where he met and married Carol. Shortly after getting married, they relocated to New Jersey where they raised their family. Arthur spent 40 years working as a contract negotiator for RCA. He loved his job and the international travel it involved.
Art and Carol enjoyed traveling the world and spending their winters in Naples Florida.
After retirement, they moved to Ocean City NJ and enjoyed bird watching, beach time, and entertaining their grandchildren. He was a member of the OFAA golf group and enjoyed his weekly poker games at the Ocean Reef Club House.
Arthur had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling and listening to jokes. His easy going manner allowed him to deal with all of the twists and turns of his last few years. He was a true gentleman who lived a full life filled with grace, love, and laughter.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, 174 Humphrey Street, Swampscott on Saturday, December 5 at 12PM. Burial with honors to follow in Swampscott Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held in the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead on Friday from 4-7PM. All are welcome.
