

Mrs. Barbara Ward Campbell, of Marblehead, died on 14 March 2014 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers, after a brief illness. Born Barbara Lee Ward on 18 November 1923 in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Beatrice L. (Lee) Ward. She grew up near Lynn Beach, cultivating a life-long love of the ocean. She graduated from Lynn English High School Class of 1941, and from Endicott College, Beverly Class of 1943.
Barbara worked at General Electric Co., New England Telephone Co., and Jordan Marsh Co., before marrying Philip G. Campbell of Fort Wayne, IN, in 1954.
She enjoyed working in her garden with her roses and peonies, and watching the birds and small animals play. She loved classical music and fine cooking.
She leaves two children, John Campbell of Marblehead, and Susan Rainville of Granby, CT, a son-in-law Peter Rainville of Granby, and three grandchildren: Alexander Rainville, Brian Rainville and Scott Rainville all of Granby. She was also the sister of the late John W. Ward, Jr. of Marblehead, who died in 1978.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 19th at 10 AM in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 135 Lafayette Street, Marblehead, followed by burial in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours in the Eustis & Cornell Funeral Home 142 Elm Street, Marblehead on Tuesday, March 18th from 4-7 PM.
