Carol was born on March 30, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Philip F. Norcross, Sr. and the late Helen (Young) Norcross. She was predeceased by her brother James Young Norcross, her husband Luke Williams and is survived by her brother Philip F. Norcross of Marblehead, along with many nieces, nephews and their families across the North Shore of Massachusetts.
Carol attended Marblehead public schools and graduated from Marblehead High School in 1953. Carol enjoyed athletics, had a very robust social life and had a keen sense of humor. A trait she continued to display for the rest of her life. Her friends will remember her for her sharp wit and her ability to cut to the chase.
After graduating from Green Mountain College in 1956, Carol entered the workplace and had a very long, successful career at the Salem 5 Savings Bank and later at the Danvers Savings Bank where she worked as a teller and eventually rose to a management position.
She left the banking industry when she met the love of her life, Laurence “Luke” Williams. Carol and Luke shared a long and loving marriage of over 40 years. They settled in Hamilton, MA where they traveled some but took a special interest in their many dogs, all German Shepherds, all big and all VERY loud. Carol loved her dogs like no one else….and she’d let you know all about them. Carol was strong, fiercely independent but extremely loyal, just like her dogs. Carol’s other interests included playing cards, tennis and golf with her many friends in and around the Hamilton/Wenham area.
Later in her life, Carol was most fortunate to have a group of providers that became Carol’s friends, confidants and caregivers. Carol’s family cannot thank her team of caregivers enough for the love and care that they provided to Carol to the very end. Their kindness is greatly appreciated more than we can state.
Carol’s services will be private and under the care of Eustis & Cornell of Marblehead. She will be interred with her family in Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Care Dimensions Hospice, Ste. B-102, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.EustisandCornellFuneralHome.com for the Williams family.
