

Daynor C. Prince Jr. of Marblehead, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Salem Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Ipswich on December 21, 1945, he was the son of the late Daynor C. Prince and Katherine (Duran) Prince.
Daynor graduated from Marblehead High School in 1964 and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education from Parsons College. After Graduation he entered the United States Marine Corp, serving honorably until discharged in 1971. For the last 20 years Daynor wintered in Vero Beach FL; his annual return to Marblehead marked the beginning of summer for many.
Mr. Prince’s Teams and personal achievements in athletics are legendary as well as his kindness. He coached, mentored, and helped others in his extensive and varied travels. His niece quotes him as saying, “School first, Athletics second”.
He is survived by many siblings in his extended family: Cynthia Thomas, her husband Alan, Grass Valley, CA, children Erik and Gail Begany, Sharon Dykes; Charles Prince, his wife Sherri, Auburn, CA, and children Stephen, David and Lisa Mitchell; Terrence Prince (deceased), his wife Rosalie, Hendersonville, NC, children Wendy, Tammy, and Charlie; Mary Ellen Prince, Mount Pleasant, SC, Katherine Schlaffer and her husband Joseph, Agawam, MA, Katherine Barreiros and husband Malcolm, West Newbury, MA , Jay Harris, Agawam, MA, Christopher Harris (deceased), John Harris, Hopewell Junction, NY, Christina Shevetone and, husband Frank, Wappingers Falls, NY, Dianne Prince, Agawam, MA. Additionally he leaves his Aunt Phyllis Prince, Marblehead MA, and children Christine and Craig, Bonnie, her husband Jerry Hallinan. He leaves numerous Nieces and nephews, Grand Nieces and Nephews plus many cousins.
A graveside service with honors will be held at Waterside Cemetery, 294 West Shore Drive, Marblehead on Friday, June 24 at 2PM followed by a memorial service at Seaside Park, Atlantic Avenue, Marblehead at 6PM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Arrangements by the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, Marblehead.
