Edward J. Cloutier

Born in Webster, MA and longtime resident of Marblehead, MA, Ed was the son of the late Agatha C. (Mainville) and Edward H. Cloutier.

Ed was a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy, an Eagle Scout, mechanical engineer, an active outdoorsman and accomplished racing sailor.

He was the founder and CEO of American Executive Management, a leading executive search firm with a worldwide client base, specializing in strategic business planning for clients in the design, engineering and construction industries.

Ed was a member of the Corinthian Yacht Club, Eastern Point Yacht Club, and the Eastern Point Association. He won many trophies throughout his 55 years racing sailboats, and was well known on CYC’s annual sailing cruises up the coast of Maine. Ed also enjoyed skiing, fly fishing, camping, gardening, and antique cars, but mostly spending time with friends and family.

Ed was an environmental activist. His passion for the outdoors led him to create an environmental awareness campaign in the 1980s and to develop technology to change the way factories dump industrial waste into the North River and Salem Harbor.

Ed was passionate about helping those in need. He raised funds for the Catholic Church and donated food and supplies to Crombie Street Church shelter as well as many nonprofits along the eastern seaboard. He donated medical and school supplies for countries such as Haiti, Guatemala, Venezuela and most recently Cuba.

He will be remembered for his compassion toward others and zeal for living life to the fullest.

Edward J. Cloutier and Margaret T. Cloutier shared 37 years of marriage before Margaret’s passing in 2009. He was a loving father to three daughters, Beth, Jeanne, and Julie Cloutier; and siblings Paul, Nola and Ann Cloutier. Ed was devoted to his partner Katherine McKnight and her family.
