Eugene F. Brennan, III

Eugene Francis Brennan III, known to those who loved him as "Geno" or "Gene," was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. Known for his strength, Geno battled early onset Alzheimer’s for 11 years. He was with family and friends in his final days and peacefully passed away on August 15, 2026 at the age of 68.

Perhaps born with a mustache, Geno grew up in Worcester, Massachusetts. He attended UMass Amherst, where he majored in Food Science and, more importantly, met the love of his life, Susan. Together, they traveled the world before settling in Millis, MA followed by Lee, NH, where they raised their two daughters. Geno and Susan moved to Marblehead, MA where he spent his final years close to family and just a walk away from the ocean.

Geno loved being outside. He enjoyed going to the beach, working with Susan on their gardens, hiking, helping others (especially if it involved using his truck), holidays, and playing games. Geno also loved going to the YMCA every single morning, which he managed to do well into his final months.

An avid Boston sports fan, Geno loved going to Bruins, Red Sox, and Patriots games. He was especially passionate about going to Bruins games with his family and loved teaching his daughters all the pregame songs and chants.

Known for his kindness and big heart, Geno valued his relationships with family and friends more than anything. He will forever be missed by his wife, Susan Brennan; his daughters, Carolyn O’Connor and Eryn Taylor; his sons-in-law, Patrick O’Connor and Bryan Taylor; his three grandsons, Finn Taylor, Jackson Taylor, and Macklin O’Connor; and his sister, Mary Brennan. He will also be deeply missed by his extended family and many friends who were lucky enough to know him.

Geno leaves behind a lifetime of memories. He was strong. He was funny. He was kind. He was deeply loved. And he will be missed more than words can say.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady, Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Ave., Marblehead. A Celebration of Life will follow immediately after the Mass at the Gerry 5 VFA, 210 Beacon Street in Marblehead.
