Frank A. Shea, Jr.
July 20, 1930 – March 21, 2021
MARBLEHEAD - Frank A. Shea, Jr., passed away peacefully at home March 21. He was born in Quincy, MA, in 1930, the son of Lillian J. and Frank A. Shea, Sr. Frank served stateside in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and later received a degree from Boston University. In 1956, Frank married Claire P. Golden, also of Quincy. The couple lived near the ocean in Marblehead, where they raised three children at their home on Devereux Street. Frank's devotion to his beloved Claire was unshakeable, through 58 years of marriage and beyond. Frank enjoyed gardening, following politics, and piloting his small sailboat in the waters off Goldthwait Beach. He spent his entire career at GTE Sylvania as an operations engineer, which provided the means to support his true enthusiasm for home and family. A special joy was granddaughter, Alex, whom he loved to entertain with dramatic readings of “Make Way for Ducklings” and an ongoing gag involving a stuffed red dog named Rover.
Frank is survived by his daughter Nancy Kimball and husband Shawn of North Easton, MA; son Daniel Shea and wife Kathleen of Beverly, MA; and son Christopher Shea and wife Dana Trevas of Brandywine, MD. He also leaves behind granddaughter Alexandra Shea Kimball of Boston, MA, and sisters Carole Andosca of Plymouth, MA, and Dorothy Gilmore of Quincy, MA. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Frank's memory may be made to the Goldthwait Reservation ( www.goldthwait.org ), which preserves the beach and marshland where Frank loved to spend time with his family.
