Jane was born on February 2, 1931 in Meriden, Connecticut to Hugh Joe Gwyn and Josephine Gwyn. She grew up in Connecticut and spent summers on her family’s farm in Paris, Missouri. She graduated with honors from Smith College and was a devoted alumnus of Smith. Jane had a career as a personal director for many years, working in New York and Boston.
Jane loved the theater, opera, symphony, and art museums. She also loved to travel, and she traveled throughout the United States, the Caribbean, and Europe. Jane also went on many cruises, including to Hawaii and from Europe to Russia.
Jane was a devoted friend and a wonderful example of an intelligent, independent and selfless woman. She had a sharp wit, droll sense of humor, and loved to read. Her philanthropy and generosity will be remembered by many.
Her friends publicly thank the wonderful staff, nurses and administration at the Lafayette Nursing Home for the personal and loving care they provided to Jane. Jane will be dearly missed. Private services for Jane will be held in Paris, MO.
