Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, Jeff was the beloved son of the late Leonard and Lillian Best. One of four brothers, Jeff grew up with a strong sense of family, hard work, and loyalty—qualities that remained with him throughout his life.
Jeffrey’s life was rooted in the community that shaped him. He graduated from Marblehead High School in 1960, and Jeff proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army National Guard. Following his military service, he worked for many years in his family’s successful plumbing business before later applying his talents to carpentry and painting. A skilled craftsman with a strong work ethic, Jeff took pride in working with his hands and helping others.
Outside of work, Jeff enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid fisherman who found the most peace and happiness fly fishing in the rivers of Pittsburg New Hampshire. He loved playing and following ice hockey, relaxing with his pipe, and spending time with those he loved most.
Above all else, Jeff was devoted to his family. His greatest joy came from being a husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished every moment spent with his daughter and adored his three granddaughters, who brought him joy and so much laughter.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Laura Best of Marblehead; his daughter, Kimberly Curtin, and her husband, Gregory Curtin of Marblehead; and his three granddaughters, Piper, Peyson, and Mila; his brother Dana Best and his wife Heidi; his brother Gary Best and his wife Carol; and his sister-in-law, Beth Best. He is predeceased by his brother Ronald Best. He also leaves behind extended family members and friends who will miss his quiet strength, steady presence, and kind heart.
Jeff will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, his craftsmanship, and his appreciation for the simple things in life. His legacy lives on through the family he loved so deeply.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jeff’s life and share memories of a man who lived with humility, integrity, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear.
May he forever rest in peace.
