

John W. Rodgers, of Salem, formerly of Marblehead, passed away at the John Bertrum House in Salem on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at the age of 78. He was the beloved husband of the late Gail (Murray) Rodgers with whom he shared 23 years of marriage.
Born in Staten Island, NY, John was the son of the late Harry and Clara (Wiemers) Rodgers. He graduated from St. Peter’s High School Class of 1952 and went on to St. Louis University, graduating in 1955. Following his graduation, John honorably served his country in the US Air Force until his honorable discharge in 1959.
Moving to Marblehead, John began his employment with American Airlines at Boston Logan International Airport as a Controller for 32 years until his retirement in 1992.
John is survived by his sisters, Carol Marder of Mission Viejo, CA and Elisabeth Campbell of Alexandria, VA, nephews, John Marder of Tustin, CA and David Campbell of El Paso, TX, nieces, Cynthia Small of San Juan Capistrano, CA and Carolyn Kreiser of Sarasota, FL.
John’s Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 10AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Ave., Marblehead. Interment to follow at Our Lady Star of the Sea Cemetery, Marblehead. At the family’s request, there will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Catholic Charities North, 55 Lynn Shore Dr., Lynn 01902.
