Karen graduated from Duxbury High School in 1967 and pursued further studies at the Sorbonne in Paris, France.
Raised in an aviation family, Karen followed the tradition by joining Northeast Airlines as a flight attendant in 1968. She continued her career with Delta Airlines after the two companies merged in 1972 and flew for 36 years, retiring in 2004.
Karen was well-known for her love of animals. She was one of the founders of Friends of Marblehead Abandoned Animals, a precursor of the Marblehead Animal Shelter, where she devoted countless hours to the care of abandoned and unwanted pets. She leaves her beloved brother, Scott C. Thrasher, of Duxbury, and his wife Maureen, and nephews Christopher N. Thrasher and Derek T. Thrasher, both of Duxbury. Karen was predeceased by her brother, Myles M. Thrasher, and her nephew, Cameron K. Thrasher. She will be greatly missed by a close circle of friends who cherished her as an integral part of their lives, as well as the many friends and colleagues who will long remember her laughter and kindness.
