Peggy was a beloved and vibrant member of the Marblehead creative arts community.
Peggy was born in Cold Spring, NY to Raymond and Elizabeth Farrell (Rinn) on November 17, 1937, joining her sister Mary and brother Franklin. She is the beloved aunt of John and Patricia.
Peggy had a love for travel, leading her to a career as a flight attendant, making many life-long friends. Peggy started at a small regional airline, based Florida and moved as they merged with larger airlines leading Delta. She returned to the New York area, close to family, but when Delta moved their crew to Boston, Peggy moved too. Falling in love with Marblehead, Peggy called it home. She somehow convinced her mother, a fisty New Yorker, that she would love Marblehead too and moved her to Marblehead. They joined the Marblehead Shipyard Association and loved becoming part of the community and spending time on the water.
Once Peggy settled into her home, she rescued her first dog Lindy, who promptly had puppies. Peggy called on her friends to adapt Lindy’s puppies but kept one for her mother, Susie. Peggy, Elizabeth and the girls became a common sight at the beach, playing in the water and chasing tennis balls. Peggy believed in pet adaption and did it often. Lindy and Susie were followed by Woody, Rufus, Cocoa, Kiley and Jenny. No dog could have asked for a more devoted fur mom.
Retiring from Delta didn’t mean that Peggy would sit idle at home, this meant more time to visit her family in New York and family trips to Merideth, NH.
Peggy soon discovered her creative side and started taking art classes. She met photographer Bob Sinclair and discovered her passion for photography. She was a gifted photographer, digital and acrylic artist. She put her heart into her art and joined a group of artists that became her good friends.
Peggy became a beloved friend and a vibrant presence in Marblehead’s creative and service communities. She was an art enthusiast in the truest sense — someone who didn’t just appreciate beauty but helped build the spaces where it could flourish.
She was a devoted member of Little Harbor Studio, where she worked alongside 10 fellow artists in a cooperative that became a second home to her. Her enthusiasm, generosity, and steady encouragement shaped the spirit of the studio and strengthened the bonds among its artists.
Her commitment to the arts extended throughout Marblehead. She was an active member of the Marblehead Arts Association, where she poured her time, energy, and heart into supporting local artists and community programming. Every summer, she volunteered at the Marblehead Festival of Arts Plein Air event, greeting artists with her trademark warmth and helping the festival thrive year after year. Peggy served on the Swampscott arts board of directors for over 10 years.
Her dedication to community didn’t stop with the arts. She was also deeply involved with the Marblehead Food Pantry, serving as a board member and working tirelessly to support neighbors in need.
She will be remembered for her kindness, her creativity, her unwavering generosity, and the way she made every space feel more welcoming. Her absence will be felt across the many communities she helped nurture.
Peggy is predeceased by her parents, her sister Mary, her brother Franklin (Sonny) and her sister-in-law Patricia (Pat). Peggy is survived by and will be deeply missed by her nephew John and her niece Patricia (Trish).
