

Margaret Patricia “Peggy” Johnston, of Marblehead, died on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the Bertram House in Swampscott, Massachusetts. She was born in Hartford, Connecticut, the daughter of the late Edward and Greta Lemee Johnston.
Peggy was a graduate of Bridgewater High School, where she excelled academically and was active in student government. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Tufts University and held a Kindergarten position in Portsmouth, New Hampshire before accepting the assignment as a First Grade teacher at the Stanley School in Swampscott.
She was a loved and respected educator of forty years. Peg traveled extensively in Europe and the United States. Her many friends remembered her delight as she recalled her hot air balloon adventures in Arizona.
Peg is survived by her sister-in-law, Mrs. James Johnston of California; several nephews; and her cousin, Barbara Patterson of Belfast, Ireland. She was predeceased by her brother, James; and also by her longtime dear companion, Dr. William G. Simonis formerly of Marblehead.
A gathering to celebrate the life of Peg Johnston will be held at Hawthorne by the Sea, 153 Humphrey Street, Swampscott on Wednesday, November 15 from noon to 1:30PM. All her friends are invited. Arrangements by Eustis and Cornell of Marblehead.
