

Mrs. Nancy J. “Nan” (Adams) Martin, age 85, of Marblehead, died peacefully in her home on Thursday morning, October 17, 2013. She was the beloved wife of 46 years to the late Luxton “Lucky” A. Martin.
Born in Marblehead, Nan was the daughter of the late John T. and Evelyn M. (Roundy) Adams. She attended Marblehead Schools and was a graduate of Marblehead High School, Class of 1947, known as Bells and Buoys. She was a lifelong Marbleheader.
Nancy greatly enjoyed golfing, skiing, gardening and her annual trips to Florida with her husband Lucky. For many years she taught swim lessons through the Red Cross, and was the Summer program Director for the Marblehead Parks and Recreation Department. She coached the Marblehead High School girls basketball team and was a Girl Scout troop leader. Along with her late husband, Nancy was also a member of the BYC Racing Committee. After raising her family, Nan worked at the Bell School and also the Marblehead Savings Bank. Upon retiring, she and Lucky enjoyed traveling with their friends.
She leaves her daughter: Pamela Martin Parker and her husband Timothy of Amherst, NH; and her son, William G. Martin and Tamsen D. Hood of Marblehead. She was Grandmother to Timothy A. Harris and Talia A. Parker, both of New Hampshire, and Madeline J. Martin of Marblehead. She was predeceased by her brother John T. Adams of Glendora, CA.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Graveside Service in Waterside Cemetery, 294 West Shore Drive, Marblehead on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 1:00PM. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
