

Born in Salem to Michael L. and Eleanor (Bertram) Sullivan on Aug . 15, 1931.
Nancy enjoyed an exciting and rewarding childhood in the Collins Cove neighborhood of Salem. She played basketball and softball for the Immaculate Conception CYO teams. She was considered the best all around basket ball player on the North Shore in her era and received many awards for her play. Nancy graduated from St. Mary’s Commercial School of Salem, Class of 1948.
At 15 Nancy became involved in the auxiliary US Army Air Forces Civil Air Patrol North Shore Squadron. Under the Leadership of Nancy the Salem Flight Girls distinguished themselves by winning the intra state drill competition.
In her later years Nancy greatly enjoyed being a member of the Peabody Council of Aging Drill Team and formed many friendships. She was also a member of the Yankee Volleyball Association and the US Volleyball Association.
She was employed by Salem State College as administrative assistant for many years. Her passion for sports lead her to playing vollyball and eventually she became a certified U.S. Volleyball Association Referee and enjoyed traveling locally and up and down the East Coast to many high schools and colleges to referee .
She is survived by her children Maureen Mitchell of Salem, Janet Flynn and her husband Tim Flynn of Chapel Hill, NC , the late John Healey of Marblehead, and Patrick Healey and fiancé Julie Castner of Marblehead. She is survived by her siblings Edmund and Fran Sullivan of Cape Cod, Janet and Bill Daly of La Habra California, David and Pat Sullivan of Danvers, Faye and John Corning of Peabody. She is also survived by her grandchildren Elissa Luccio and her husband Ronald of Boston , Emily Mitchell of Salem and Dillon and Tegan Flynn of Chapel Hill, NC, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Avenue, Marblehead on Thursday, Aug. 26 at Noon. Burial to follow in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held at the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home 142 Elm street, Marblehead on Wednesday from 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Allie Castner Scholarship Fund, c/o National Grand Bank, Attn: Jim Nye, 91 Pleasant St., Marblehead, MA 01945.
