Mr. Noel J. Reebenacker, age 87, of Peabody, died on Wednesday, August 14th after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Mrs. Doris (Crosby) Reebenacker, with whom he shared 68 years of marriage. Born in Winchester, he was the son of the late Maurice and Dorothea (Higgins) Reebenacker. He graduated from Reading High School, and received both a Bachelor’s degree in Math and a Master’s Degree in Education from UMass Amherst. In his senior year, as the starting quarterback on the football team, he was named Athlete of the Year and in 1972 was inducted in to the UMass Athletic Hall of Fame. Noel was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Noel was a Math Teacher at Marblehead High School from 1959 to 1970 and also served as Head Football Coach. He then pursued a career in Real Estate Development. He loved sports, especially tennis, golf and skiing.
He was also the father of Karl Reebenacker and his wife Gail of Conroe, Texas, Keith A. Reebenacker of Methuen, Eric Reebenacker of St. Cloud, FL, and Steven Reebenacker and his wife Kathy of Beverly, and the brother of Robert Reebenacker and his wife Carol of Methuen, Marjorie Behen of Lynn, Dorothy Hunt of Lynn, and the late Richard Reebenacker, Maurice Reebenacker and Muriel Woodruff. He also leaves seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4-6 PM in the Eustis & Cornell Funeral Home 142 Elm Street, Marblehead, followed by a Funeral Service at 6 PM.
