

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Beth (Putnam) Best of Marblehead, MA; daughter Wendy Dunn and husband David of Highland, NY; son Randy Best and wife Mary Ann, along with granddaughters Tabatha and Teagan Best of Salem, MA and son Jason Best of Marblehead MA. Ron also leaves behind his 3 brothers; Jeffrey Best and his wife Laura of Marblehead, MA; his brother Dana Best and his wife Heidi of Ipswich, MA and his brother Garry Best and his wife Carol of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Leonard and Lillian Best.
Ron was a longtime resident of Marblehead, graduating from Marblehead High School where he was a star athlete playing hockey and baseball. Following graduation he became a well know plumber who owned and operated Leonard H. Best and Son plumbing & heating of Marblehead, He was an avid Boston sports fan, outdoorsman and fisherman who loved spending time with his family on Back Lake in Pittsburgh, NH. He furthered his love of sports by coaching the Marblehead Midgets youth hockey team and the Marblehead Warriors youth baseball team for many years. He was a member of Market Square, past member of the Marblehead Elks Club and the Salem Chamber of Commerce bowling league.
Ron will be remembered for so many things, among them his dry sense of humor, quick wit, hockey games at Ware pond, ability to fix almost anything, cooking out on the bbq, sports knowledge and cruising with family & friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead on Saturday, January 23 at 1PM. All are welcome. Visitation will begin at 10AM prior to the service. Contributions in his memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation @ www.kidney.org/donate.
