Ginny was a longtime and much sought-after Republican Party organizer, delegate and activist. She managed many campaign offices for state and national elections and had then Vice President George W. Bush and Barbara Bush to her home for dinner, twice! She worked with Citizen’s for Limited Taxation on tax reform and crusaded tirelessly to catch and stop corporate polluters and illegal dumping in Salem harbor.
Never idle, she was a Bishop Fenwick Booster and a Shellfish Constable. Ginny loved oil painting, golf, tennis, skiing, bowling, bingo and poker with the girls. She rooted for the Bruins and followed professional tennis.
She loved a good road trip and knew every back road and short-cut in New England. Ginny had a big heart and a helping hand for everyone she met. She loved people and was devoted to her husband, family and friends.
She was born in Salem, MA to the late Kendrell & Virginia Gregware on Jan. 26, 1932 and was preceded in death by her beloved husband Donald, sister Diane Brown and Husband Tom of Virginia, and brother Kenneth Gregware of Marblehead.
She is survived by her sister Donna Hansen and Robert of Marblehead, sister-in Law Shirley Gregware of Marblehead and her 6 children; Donald Brings and Kathy of Haymarket, VA; Cheryl O’Brien and Kevin of Ypsilanti, MI; Michael Brings and Cathy of Silver Lake, NH; Kathy Wolniewicz and Richard of Magnolia, MA; Mark Brings and Janet of Marblehead; and Lisa Martin of Marblehead.
She was beloved “Nana” to her grandchildren Nick, Drew, Katina, Stefan, Dylan, Erin, Kelly, Patrick, Heidi, Heather and Samantha and great grandchildren Arabella, Holland, Riley, Tinsley and Gunner. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews.
Ginny was a wonderful woman that was loved and will always be cherished.
Visiting hours will be held at Eustis and Cornell of Marblehead, 142 Elm Street on Thursday, July 5 from 4-8PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Avenue, Marblehead on Friday, July 6 at 10AM. Burial to follow at Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. Celebration of Life 12:30-4 PM, Friday, July 6 at The Gerry 5, 210 Beacon Street in Marblehead. Memorial donations to www.dysautonomiainternational.org or Alzheimer’s Association.
