

Born in Marblehead, he was the son of the late John and Evelyn (Osborne) Howe. He was a Navy veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific Theatre, and a Marblehead Police Officer for over 20 years. He also formerly worked at the Graves Boatyard. He was a Mason and member of Philanthropic Lodge AF&AM.
He enjoyed golf, woodworking, cooking and baking. Red’s favorite Marblehead quotes were “Whip” and “Down-Bucket”.
He was the father of William R. Howe, Jr. and his wife Darlene of FL, Michelle Lane and her husband Sean of Salem, Cathy Yale-Connell and her husband Jim of Myrtle Beach, FL, Sandy Martin and her husband Bill of St. Petersburg, FL, and of the late Randy Howe. He also leaves 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11AM in the Eustis-Cornell Funeral Home 142 Elm Street, Marblehead, followed by burial in Waterside Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Masonic Service by Philanthropic Lodge AF&AM Tuesday evening at 7:30PM.
