She was born September 16, 1932 in Wheaton. Arlene was married to Arnold Brackmann for 36 years until his passing in 1987, together they adopted three children. After his passing, she married Raymond Ettner, who she was married to for 20 years until his passing in 2014.
She loved cooking and baking, vegetable gardening, and taking care of her roses. She liked doing puzzles and going to garage sales. When she would go to garage sales she would look for dolls that she would then repair and donate to the Lutheran Laymen's Association.
Arlene is survived by her brothers, Donnie (Mary Lou) Winthers and Richard Winthers; her children, Robert (Virginia) Brackmann, Steven Brackmann, John Brackmann; step-children, Mike (Judy) Ettner, David (Sharon) Ettner, Terry (Sue) Ettner; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Irene, Phyllis, Florence, LaVern, and Bill; her sister-in-law, Jeanette.
There will be a visitation from 9:30 to 11am on Saturday, April 13 at Zion Lutheran Church, 412 Jackson St, Marengo. The service will follow at 11am.
Interment at McHenry County Memorial Park will be private.
