He was born Dec. 16, 1923 in Marengo to Gustav and Lillie (Gluth) Hensel. On Nov. 2, 1946 he married Marilyn Swanlund in Marengo.
Arthur served in the United States Army during World War II.
He retired from Arnold Engineering after 32 years of service. Following his retirement, he and his wife moved to Ocala, Fla. for 16 years before returning to Marengo.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing Pinochle.
He was also a member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marilyn; his children, Robert (Karen) Hensel and Lori (Robert) Karstensen; his grandchildren, Bob (Meredith) Hensel, Keri (Chris) Nolen and Adam, Alex, and Nathan Karstensen; his great-grandchildren, Cade, Cole, Caelan Nolen and Sam Hensel; and his sister, Lillie Samlaska.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Kyle Hensel; his brothers, Bill, Gus, and Louis Hensel; and his sister, Florence Smith.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, April 27, at First Baptist Church, 320 E. Washington St., Marengo. The service will be at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
