Barbara Wilcox

Barbara Wilcox, 72, of Marengo died Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Florence Nursing Home. She was born April 16, 1941 in Belvidere to David and Margaret (McAuliffe) Wilcox. She retired from the Human Resources Department of Valley Hi Nursing Home after 35 years of service.

She was an avid Cubs fan, loved reading, music, the outdoors, dogs and spending time with her family, they were very important to her.

She is survived by her sisters; Lucille “Murph” Wilcox, Shirley Wilcox, Kathleen (Charles Jr., ) Bonk, niece Tammy (Timothy) Schultz, nephew Corey (Christina) Bonk, great-nephews; Lucas and Logan Bonk, great-niece Katherine “Paige” Schultz, special family friend Nancy Griebel, and many aunts and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Tues, Aug 6 at the Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy Marengo. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 am on Wed, Aug 7 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 323 N. Taylor St. Marengo. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to JourneyCare Hospice, Florence Nursing Home, Marengo Fire & Rescue or Memorial Masses in her name.
