Charles "Roger" Cannon, 77, of Marengo, Illinois passed away March 6, 2025.
Roger was born in Kewanee, Illinois on January 13, 1948 to Henry Harvey Cannon and Nellie Cannon. Roger grew up in Neponset, Illinois where he began his life long love for family and basketball. He graduated from Neponset High School as the all time leading scorer in Zepher history. He then went to Eastern Illinois University to study Physical Education. In 1967 he married his high school sweetheart, Sherry Stabler and moved to Marengo in 1970 and raised two children, Michelle and John, while working at Marengo Community High School. He coached multiple sports at Marengo, but basketball was his passion. He was recently inducted into the IBCA Hall of Fame.
Roger is survived by his daughter Michelle (Ron) Bychowski and son John (Kristen) Cannon; grandchildren Brady Cannon, Madison Cannon and Emily Bychowski, siblings David (Diana) Cannon and Alan (Margaret) Cannon. Roger was preceded in death by his parents Henry Cannon and Nellie Cannon; wife Sherry Cannon.
A celebration of life will be held at Joe's Place in Marengo from 5:00-9:00 PM on Saturday, March 15. Please wear your Marengo spirit wear or maroon.
