Quiet Strength
(by Henry Grossen for Grandpa)

The measure of a man is not
medals nor awards
Not wealth nor house nor car
but what you're striving towards

He was a man with quiet strength
working hard and being tough
Providing a safe and happy place
for everyone he loved

The lawn was soft and birds were bright
all around his home
Always welcoming to family
coming back from where they'd roam

He taught me many things to use
my ears to hear the band
my eyes to observe nature
my feet to walk the land

He showed me to think before I speak
I could go on at length
But what Grandpa showed me most
was how to use a quiet strength.

My memory of Dale is that him and Sandy took me and my sister to a few Cubs games. I will always treasure this memory. I’m not a fan of sports but going to the game in person was awesome. I’m grateful to be honored with the privilege of this wonderful memory and to get to spend time with them. They were wonderful host for me and my sister to get to see a live Cubs game. Prayers for this wonderful family in their time of sorrow.
