Florence Lakomy

Florence Lakomy, 92, of Marengo died Wednesday December 22, 2010 at home. She was born January 8, 1918 in Czestochowa, Poland to Walenty and Prexeda Cierpial. On September 27, 1948 she married Antoni Lakomy in Poland.

She was a hardworking and independent woman who was very strong in her faith. Being generous and loving she would do anything possible to help anyone. She was a homemaker who took great joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters; Barbara Roth, Mary Lakomy, granddaughters; Jennifer (Bruce) Zelenko, Christy Drach, Jaime (Mike) Lambert, great-grandchildren; Andrew, Taylor, and Cassidy Zelenko, Courtney and Ashlynn Drach. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1988, her sons George and Zbignew Lakomy, her sons-in-law; Donald E. Dampier and E. James Roth II, four brothers, and five sisters.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Monday December 27th at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy Marengo. Funeral mass will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday December 28th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 323 N Taylor St. Marengo. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to friends and caregivers Donna, Susan Smith, Barb Zieba, Lottie, and Larry Patter. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the church.
