Garry Edward Koenig

Garry E. Koenig (73) of Marengo, formerly of Leyden Township, passed away peacefully June 24, 2026 with his family by his side. Garry was born December 31, 1952 son of Robert and Olga Koenig. He was a devoted father to his daughters and grandfather to his grandsons.

He is survived by his 3 daughters Jodi (Alex) Avila, Jenny (Bryan) Shannon, and Jackie (Jake) McCarthy and 9 grandsons Jacob, Noah, Lucas, Keelan, William, Camden, Asher, Jameson, and Robert. He is also survived by his siblings Chuck (Rex) Koenig, Kurt (Laura) Koenig, and Debbie Scott and many nieces and nephews. Garry was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Olga Koenig, brother Robert Koenig, son-in-law Stephan DePew, nephews Alan Koenig and Marty Coleman, niece Michelle “Shelly” Coleman, and ex-wife and mother of their children Sandra (Eckart) Corner.

Garry’s biggest joys were bowling, fishing with his grandsons and son-in-laws, camping, and being the #1 fan for his grandsons sports.

Services will be held at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E Grant Hwy, Marengo on July 18, 2026 from 3-6 pm.
