Genelle Skeels

She was born Oct. 27, 1925, in Xenia, Ill., to Oakley and Alma (Holman) Gray. On April 4, 1944, she married Max Skeels in Belvidere.

She is survived by her son, Steve (Deanna); her special "daughter," Ronda (Mike) Kaufman; her grandchildren, Bradyn, Trever and Drew Skeels; her great-grandchildren, Sara Skeels, Autumn and Branden Stensrud, Chelsea Hartstock, Colin, Liam, Maxine and Alister Skeels; and her siblings, Harold Gray, Franklin (Vernie) Gray, Carol Lee Mearkle, Shelby (James) Allison and Norma (Donald) Stewart.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Max; her parents, Oakley and Alma Gray; and her siblings, Robert Gray, Doris (Art) Reser, and Earl (Virginia) Gray.

The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Highway, Marengo.

The visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, Aug. 11, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Marengo City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to establish at a later date.
