

George was born October 29, 1940 in Belvidere, IL, the son of George Edward and Helen Marie (nee Nelson) Dumproff.
On April 14, 1973 he married the love of his life, Donna Mae Ponitz at United Methodist Church in Marengo, IL.
In 2000, George retired from the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority after 32 1/2 years of service.
He served in the Corp of Engineering for the Army from February 1961 to March 1964. He was stationed in Germany and Libya. When he returned to the states, he played on the Army basketball team.
George was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time at his home in the woods in Missouri with his wife and family. Any time spent with his family was always a good time for him.
He will truly be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; his daughter, Carla (Reynaldo) Fierros; his grandsons, Randy Michael (Angelika) Fierros and Damien Issac Fierros; his great-granddaughter, Penelope Skye Fierros; his sister, Mary Ann Jackson; and his sisters-in-law, Glenda Townsend, Judith Ponitz, Cecilia Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Paul Dumproff; sister-in-law, Betty Dumproff; mother-in-law, Mildred A. Ponitz; father-in-law, Glenn Curtiss Ponitz; and brothers-in-law, Joseph Ponitz, Gordon Townsend, Steven Johnson, and Clay Jackson.
There will be a visitation from 4 to 8pm on Friday, July 26 at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy, Marengo. A funeral service will be at 11am on Saturday, July 27 at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in Marengo City Cemetery.
