

Born August 24, 1949, to Edmund R. and Dorathea (Thurow) Goetz, he graduated from Belvidere High School in 1967. He married Nancy Flippo on June 18, 1977 in Marengo.
Harold served in the United States Army during Vietnam and was employed at Arnold Engineering in Marengo for more than 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion in Marengo and sold poppies for them.
He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, board games, and doing puzzles. He enjoyed working at the chicken broast in Garden Prairie and giving people sweet corn. He enjoyed visiting family and friends and spending time with his best friends, Andy Maines, and his dog, Sasha.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his son, Eric, of Iowa; his daughter, Sara (Alex) Gordon, of Hesperia, Calif.; his granddaughter, Meredith Gordon; his sisters, Geneva (Charles) Shacklee of Belvidere, Delores (Jesse) Uyeda of Marengo, Viola (Bobby) Adams of Greenville, Tenn., Loretta Castellanos of Garden Prairie, Hazel (William) Knight of Stone Lake, Wis.; his brother, William (Wanda) Goetz of Belvidere; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6 at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy, Marengo.
