He was born October 15, 1922 in Belvidere the son of Ernest and Ida (Albrecht) Kamholz. On July 17, 1948 he married Norma M. Poppe in Marengo.
He served in the US Army as a communications specialist during WWII stationed in France. He worked as a dispatcher for Northern Illinois Gas Co. for almost 30 years until his retirement in 1984. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Norma; children, Deitra (Allen) Johnson of Plano Texas, Tim (Mary Ianni) Kamholz of Capron; grandchildren Scott, Zachary, Justin, Melissa; great-grandchild Emma; brother Melvin (Mildred) Kamholz, and sister Phyllis Kunde.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may visit from 10am to the 11am funeral service on Tuesday, January 11, at Zion Lutheran Church, 408 Jackson St. Marengo. Interment will be in Marengo City Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in his name to Zion Lutheran Church.
