James W. Bryan

Jim was born August 15, 1931 to Jesse and Nora (Buchte) Bryan in Union who preceded him in death. In 1955 Jim married Sandra Helper who preceded him in death in 1997. Also preceding him in death was his sister, Doris Richards.

He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Joan; two daughters, Kathryn (Steve) Loser, Kimberly (Rob) Hoey; stepson, Rob Roderick; stepdaughters, Susan (Richard) Seibel and Sherrie Roderick as well as grandchildren, Brandy (Mike) Sund, Christopher (Elizabeth) Loser, Nicholas and Brittany Loser, Michael Hoey, Autumn (Ryne) Van Wazer, Kaleigh, Jacob, and Daniel Seibel, Jason and Matthew Montgomery, and great-grandchildren, Samantha and Ryan Sund, Annelise and Emmett Loser, and Cassidy VanWazer, and nephews, Randy (Kathy) Yerk, Russ (Gayle) Yerk, and David Richards.

Jim served proudly in the Navy during the Korean War. When he came home from the war he began his career with Northern Illinois Gas where he retired in 1991. He also served on the Woodstock Fire Department as a volunteer for 25 years and as an Elder at the Baptist church during his later years.

Jim loved people as well as his work. He was known for being able to fix just about any furnace, air conditioner, water heater, washer, dryer, you name it, Jim would tackle it.

A memorial gathering will be held Friday, June 29 with the visitation starting at 9am and the memorial service to follow at 11am at the First Baptist Church of Marengo, 320 E. Washington St., Marengo.
