On Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 1:27 pm CST, Julie Michele Kay passed away at the age of 46, with her family by her side. Julie was born August 12, 1975 in Lake Forest, Illinois.
She was special. She did not have full mobility nor full verbal expression. Her path was very different from ours. She required and received constant care. Julie was aware and she knew her family. She always recognized her Mom, her stepdad and her brothers. Julie had a special place in her Grandmother's heart. Grandma always knew that Julie would walk one day, and she did, even if it was with the assistance of her walker and her braces. Julie loved milk shakes—vanilla was her favorite. Julie’s life cannot be measured by the gauge of achievement. She lived mostly in silent observation. She had a joyous laugh and a bright smile. She lived in the present moment, in full trust of others. Julie harmed no one, had no ill will and was free from the attachments of ego. She was our greatest teacher. Julie taught us the important lessons and she showed us who we are. Julie mattered. Julie was Love. Unconditional.
She was preceded in death by her loving grandparents, Joseph and Matilda Boylan. She is survived by her mother, Michele Brewczynski, stepfather, Steve Brewczynski, father, Stuart Kay, and loving brothers James Kay and Robert (Sarah) Kay, niece Beatrix Kay and nephew Bradley Kay, stepbrother Craig Brewczynski, stepsisters Jennifer Manski, and Chris Hawkins.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Zion Lutheran Church, Marengo, Illinois, on October 15th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pioneer Center of McHenry, McHenry, Illinois.
