

Lloyd James Fruin Jr. age 84, of Marengo, IL, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023.
Lloyd was born September 12, 1939, in Milladore, WI, the youngest son of Lloyd and Theresa (Lobner) Fruin. He completed his early education at Saint Kilian Catholic School in Blenker, WI, then finished his education at Hampshire High School in Illinois. During the Korean War, Lloyd was a non-commissioned officer who served from 1957 to 1959. He started a family and built a home in Marengo, and was a long time parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He worked many years at National Dairy Herd Improvement Association (DHIA) as a milk tester, and was well-known for having great stories to tell his dairy farmer friends throughout northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.
Lloyd was well-loved by his children and grandchildren. He was a big Chicago Cubs fan and was delighted when they won the World Series in 2016. He was also an avid card player and enjoyed reading and playing board games. The James Bond film franchise was one of his favorite things to watch on TV. He was an animal lover and had many pets in his lifetime.
Lloyd is survived by his six children, Vicki (Daryl) Lady, Tina (William) Stanczak, Angela (John) Konicki, James Fruin, Brian Fruin (Ruben Knight), Karina Fruin; seven grandchildren, Eris and Shannon Stanczak, Chloe, Colin, Rebecka, and Christopher Konicki, and Colt (Karina) Procter; and his sisters, Pat Stuehler and Marlene Furo; and sisters-in-law, Janet Fruin and Dorothy Van Eyke.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judith (Judy); his brothers, Bill and George Fruin; his sisters, Ethel Passer, Marcella (Sally) Swetz, and Marie Stromsa; brothers-in-law, George Stuehler, George Finzel, George Furo, Joe Finzel, and Ludwig Finzel; and sisters-in-law, Marion Fruin and Alice Hosey.
Visitation from 9 to 10:30am prayers on Friday, November 17, at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy, Marengo. Mass of Christian Burial to be said at 11am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 323 N Taylor St., Marengo.
Interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
