Lorraine Swanlund

Lorraine Mary Swanlund, 95, of Marengo, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. Lorraine was born September 28, 1927 in Seneca, Illinois to the late Fred and Mary Thiede. She married Herbert Swanlund on June 28, 1947 in Marengo.

Lorraine worked as a secretary at Warner Electric for 23 years before retiring in 1990. Outside of work, and into retirement, she and Herbert spent their free time traveling. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marengo and was part of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Lorraine is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sisters Geraldine Standish, Gertrude Stanke, Bernice Bloedorn and Isabel Thomas; and her brothers Clifford Thiede, Robert Thiede and James Thiede.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm on October 10, 2022 at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E Grant Hwy, Marengo, Illinois 60152. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on October 11, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 323 N Taylor St, Marengo, Illinois 60152 with interment to follow at Marengo City Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to ProMedica Hospice or the Marengo Food Pantry.
