Lucile L. Oakley

Lucile L. Oakley, 100, of Marengo passed away December 15, 2016 at Valley Hi Nursing Home in Woodstock. She was born April 6, 1916 in Flora Township to Ray and Mabel (Kingsbury) Morehead. Lucile graduated from Belvidere High School and went on to school in Rockford to become a beautician. She would work as a beautician for 20 years. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Marengo. She was an avid Cubs fan, loved to play golf, and a good game of cards. Lucile is survived by her son, Frank (Carolyn) Oakley; her granddaughters, Kathy (John) Kadlec and Anna (Peter) van Ophem; her great-grandchildren, Richard, Max, and Emerson Kersten, and Sydney and Madison van Ophem; her step-great-grandchildren, Kyle and Chloe Kadlec; her sister-in-law, Jane Morehead; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil Oakley; her son, Gary Oakley; her daughter-in-law, Josephine Oakley; and her three brothers, Henry, Gail, and Kenneth Morehead. Visitation will be from 10 to 11am on Friday, December 23 at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy., Marengo. The service will be at 11am. Interment in Flora Cemetery will be private.
