Lucyna Fujarowicz

Lucy was born in Hornostaje, Poland in 1936 and was one of sixteen children. When she was only three years old, Poland was invaded at the beginning of World War II. Throughout the war, the front moved back and forth through her village, and she experienced hardships that shaped her strength and determination. As one of the older children in her family, Lucy helped care for and raise her younger siblings.

In 1970, Lucy came to the United States, where she began a new chapter of her life. She met Jan Fujarowicz, and the two were married in Chicago in 1972. Together, they raised three children: Chester, Krystyna, and Adam.

Soon after their marriage, Lucy and Jan purchased property in Marengo, Illinois. For many years they spent summer weekends camping on the land, tending their garden, and dreaming of making it their permanent home. In 1989, they built a house on the property and moved to Marengo, where Lucy continued to create a warm and welcoming home for her family and friends.

Lucy was a devoted Catholic, and her faith was a central part of her life. It gave her strength through difficult times, guided the way she cared for others, and remained a source of comfort, hope, and gratitude throughout her life.

Lucy loved gardening, cooking, and spending time with the people she cared about most. Her home was filled with the food she lovingly prepared, the beauty of the garden she tended, and the warmth of family gatherings. She was known for her quick wit, wonderful sense of humor, and generous heart. Her warmth and charm touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Lucy will be remembered for her strength, kindness, deep faith, devotion to her family, and ability to bring joy and laughter to those around her. Her love, faith, and the many memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Chester, Krystyna, and Adam; siblings, Henryk, Jadwiga, Anna, Eugenia, Jan Alfred, Franciszek, Marianna, Tadeusz, and Zdzislaw and many relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jan, parents Stanislaw and Maria, and siblings Antoni, Fryderyk, Krzysztof, Andrzej, Lucjan, and Helena.

Visitation will be held at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 East Grant Highway, Marengo, IL 60152, on July 23, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.

A Funeral Mass will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 323 N Taylor St, Marengo, IL 60152, on July 23, 2026, at 10:30 am.

A Committal Service will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Marengo.
