Mickey was born Mary Margaret Moan on June 16, 1941 to Hazel and James Moan. One of seven children, she spent her childhood in Crane, Indiana, before relocating with her family to Fullerton, California. There, she met the love of her life, Christopher Donaldson and they were married on February 20, 1965.
Mickey wore many hats in her life, from nurse, to police work, to executive assistant, to elementary school secretary, but all in the service of and to others. Her greatest joy was giving love and support to K-6 children, both in Fullerton and later in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, where she was a beloved school secretary at Armstrong Elementary. Her retirement to Marengo, Illinois was thought to be the beginning of a quiet life, but Mickey ended up busier and more energetic as she aged, and her reputation as “one of the truly good ones” only grew. She was a proud survivor of breast cancer.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Christopher, her son Van Donaldson, Son-in-Law Bryce Tache, grandchildren Elias and Dreya, and her lifelong best friend, Diane DeMoch.
Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake, Illinois on Saturday September 27, 2025 at 2pm, with a gathering of friends and extended family to begin at 1pm at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to in her name to the Immanuel Lutheran Church New Building Fund. https://www.immanuelcl.org.
