Matthew Jay Vlasnik

Matthew Jay Vlasnik, 42 of Belvidere, Illinois passed away on October 16, 2021. Matt was born in Woodstock, Illinois on June 7, 1979 to Doreen and James Vlasnik. Matt grew up and spent most of his life in Marengo until just recently when he moved out to Belvidere in 2016. Matt graduated from Marengo High School in 1997 and went on to become a carpenter and all-around handyman. On February 11th, 2016, he married the love of his life, Leann Dowty. Matt enjoyed fishing, animals and the outdoors as well as rock and heavy metal music, at the top of the list was Ozzy Osbourne. There was nothing Matt loved more than his wife and kids, family and spending his time with his loved ones while adventuring.

Matt is survived by his wife, Leann Vlasnik; children, Cheyenne and James Vlasnik; siblings, Michael (Dana) Vlasnik, his favorite sister Michele Vlasnik-Seay; nieces, Marlee and Angelica; his nephew, Caleb; and several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents Doreen and James Vlasnik; grandparents Gordon and Dorothy Peterson, Chester and Esther Vlasnik; and uncles, Kevin, Lee, Junior (Gordon), Harlen and Bob (Robert).

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 1pm to 4pm at Marengo-Union Funeral Home (505 E. Grant Hwy, Marengo, IL 60152).
