Ronald “Ron” J. Reuter, age 66, of Marengo, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 29, 1959, Ron made Marengo his home since the age of 10 and built a life filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable memories.
Ron faced life with incredible strength and bravery — including a courageous battle with leukemia — meeting every challenge with resilience and humor.
He was known for his larger-than-life personality — the loudest voice in any room and the warmest hug to go with it. Ron had a heart as big as his laugh and never met a stranger he couldn’t turn into a friend. His generosity, humor, and joyful spirit were felt by all who knew him.
A man of many passions, Ron found joy in the simple things: coloring, crafting, building models, and spending peaceful days fishing with a cold beer in hand. He was an avid fan of movies, music, cartoons, and superheroes — often sharing those joys with his grandchildren, who adored him. One of his greatest pleasures was cheering on his grandson Wyatt at baseball games, always the proudest voice in the stands.
Above all, Ron cherished time with his family. He was the devoted husband of 40 years to Connie (Lee) Reuter; loving father to Kate (Rich) Hayes and Amanda (Matt) Janusz; and the proud Papa of Wyatt Janusz and Waylon Hayes. He also leaves behind his beloved sisters, Sue Faber and Cindy Reuter; along with a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss him dearly.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and June (Andrews) Reuter, and his two infant brothers.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., with a short service beginning at 3:00 p.m., at Niko's Grill & Pub, 7509 S Grant Hwy, Marengo, IL 60152.
Let’s gather to celebrate a life that was loud with laughter, rich in love, and deeply unforgettable.
