

Vicky Buzo, beloved daughter, sister, and aunt passed away surrounded by her loving family on July 10th, 2024 in Marengo, Illinois. She was born on February 12th, 1970 in Harvard, Illinois to her mother Mary Lou Perz and father Juan Hernandez. Vicky was raised by her mother Mary Lou and father Jack Perz. She is also survived by her loving sister Mellissa (Marty Mohr) Hernandez; stepsister Brandi (John) Sciortino; stepbrother Robby (Michelle) Perz; nieces and nephews Melinda (Felix Jaramillo) Veliz, Angel Perez, Andrea Perez, Esai Hernandez, Haley (Nate) Popp, Anna Sciortino; Carley Perz; Julian Jaramillo; Lina Jaramillo; Alyana Jaramillo and Ariella Jaramillo and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Vicky entered this world with a heart defect that would shape her life forever. She underwent multiple open-heart surgeries, the first at just ten months old. Despite these challenges, from an early age until her final days she faced each obstacle with unwavering strength and resilience.
Throughout her life Vicky was known for her compassionate nature and caring heart towards others. Her love knew no bounds as she poured it into every aspect of her life; whether it be through supporting those around her or nurturing the relationships that meant so much to her.
Vicky found joy in many things but none more than spending time with those closest to her and her cherished dogs Bambi and "Bad Boy" Benny. She had an undying passion for the Dallas Cowboys football team as well as a deep admiration for Elvis Presley's music which brought light into even the darkest of days.
Above all else though were Vicky’s nieces and nephews who held a special place in their Tia’s heart – they were truly the lights of Vicky's life bringing immeasurable happiness into every moment spent together.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Sunday July 21st at the Marengo Union Funeral Home located at 505 E Grant Highway in Marengo IL followed by a funeral Mass on Monday July 22nd at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 323 N Taylor Street also within Marengo IL. A luncheon will follow in the parish hall.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Northern Illinois Hospice whose care provided comfort not only for Vicky but also for her family during this difficult time.
In memory of Vicky, we ask you keep your thoughts filled with love & kindness as we celebrate her remarkable spirit that touched us all deeply. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
