Wayne K. Beto Sr.

Marengo—Wayne K. Beto, Sr., 76, of Marengo passed away January 19, 2013 at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock.

He was born January 19, 1937 in Park Ridge to John Henry and Margaret (Detlefsen) Beto. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard.

He was an opinionated man but was always willing to help others. He loved the outdoors, whether he was fishing or camping. He enjoyed watching sports. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his sons, Wayne (Andrea) Jr., John, and Craig (Patty); his grandchildren, Damon and Travis Beto, Brandon and Morgan Beto, and Gavin Beto; and his siblings, Shirley (Lee) Eilken and Charles (Marilyn) Beto.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jack Beto.

Visitation will be from 12:30pm to 4pm on Saturday, January 26 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 6821 Main St., Union. The memorial service will be at 1pm on Saturday, January 26 at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made in Wayne’s honor to McHenry County Veterans Association, 2200 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock, IL 60098.

I know he will be missed. My family has known Mr. Beto since the early 1970s when he used to drive a bus with my mom Mary Butler (Wicklein). He was often there for parties and gatherings.

I was sorry to hear of the loss of your father. I haven't known him for a long time, but he was very interested in the happenings of Marengo, and was willing to express his opinions. I will miss seeing him at the city council meetings. You and your family are in my prayers.
