Growing up, Bill worked at his father’s service station called Bob Carr’s Standard Oil Station, where he learned his work ethic. Bill was a proud US Navy veteran, where he served as a SeaBee. He spent 30 years at Techalloy, Inc. in Union, IL, before starting Carr's Air Maintenance with his twin brother, John—an endeavor rooted in skill, perseverance, and the kind of partnership that only family can bring.
On August 21, 1965, Bill married Leah A. Bandi in Monroe, Wisconsin. Together they built a life defined by devotion and the everyday strength of showing up for one another.
Bill found joy in the open road as an avid motorcyclist, and he also enjoyed line dancing and bird watching. He made time for the outdoors through hunting, fishing, and camping, and he liked the simple fun of playing volleyball. Known for a ready sense of humor, he could bring lightness to ordinary moments, offering laughter that stayed with those around him. He also had a tender spot for animals—especially cats—and often fed strays.
His commitment to community was evident in years of service as a volunteer EMT with the Marengo Rescue Squad for 15 years. He also donated blood at the Northern Illinois Blood Bank for many decades, a quiet and faithful act of generosity that reflected a lifelong willingness to help others.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Leah; children: Cathy Carr, Diane Carr and Frank (Inta Upite) Carr; grandson, Andris; brothers: Robert and John (Carol); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Alida; sister-in-law, Donna; and nephew, Ernie.
